Learning Notes
Learning notes are a useful tool for understanding the main takeaways of an interview, immersion, or observation. By writing down participant quotes, observations, questions, and/or factual statements within a short time-frame after the end of the interview, you enlarge your learning. Creating learning is a two-step process:
- Go through your interviews and look for everything that is non-obvious, surprised you, reveals contradictions, or was a repeated theme.
- Create a post-it with your finding and add an anonymous participant code
As a result, you are able to collaboratively capture research data in a clear and efficient way.
Tips for creating the learning notes are:
- Make each note understandable on its own
- Be clear and concise
- Rule of thumb is, one note per minute of an interview
Benefits:
- Interpretation of your research data in a comprehensive way
- Quick manner to visualize your main findings
- Collaborative method for aligning on your main takeaways
